Why We Broke Up

I made my first trip the the city library in a very long time yesterday. I picked up four books to read over the next couple weeks. With lots of days off work for the holidays i'll have lots of time to read!

I picked up:
-Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler
- A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
- My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult
-The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

I got the idea to pick up these books, except My sisters Keeper, from this post. They all sounded like good books, and a fairly safe place to start.

After much debate, I decided to start with Why We Broke Up, it's Young Adult fiction and has pictures. It seemed like a good starting place with the pictures and all.

The first page had my hooked with the last sentence, "And the truth is that I goddamn loved you so much."

But this is a book about breaking up, isn't it? Yes, yes it is. It's actually heart wrenching and takes me back so many times to my first break up, which maybe i'll tell you about someday!

I'm about half way through this book, and in love! It's the story of a girl and guy, their short relationship and why they broke up. It's split into sections by pictures. The pictures represent things in the box the main character is giving back to her ex after their break up to explain why they broke up. After each picture is a continuation of the story, where the item came from, and another reason why they broke up.

So far I recommend this book! I'll let you know the final verdict soon!

Also, something fun I learned but probably should have known already. Daniel Handler's pen name is Lemony Snicket!

Check this out for some fun why we broke up stories!

Keep reading and much love!

Why?

So, ever since I started my break for my university studies I've stopped reading. Which is tragic seeing as when I was a teenager I read all the time. Granted they were mostly teenage girl oriented books, but still, I was reading. I feel like the way I think has changed and i'm not a fan, I read much slower than I used to and get distracted much more easily. And this all needs to be rectified especially if i'm going to make it when I go back to my studies next year.

So, I've made a goal for my self: At least one book week hopefully for the entire time i'm in my twenties.

I will blog about the books i'm reading, what I think, favorite quotes from them, why I chose to read it, if I feel the way I think changing back to how it used to be, and so on.

If you have any suggestions on what I should be reading feel free to email me readinginmytwenties@gmail.com or comment!

Here's to my adventure, feel free to join me and start your own reading adventure!

Keep reading and much love!
